ABOUT

As a singer I started early in the children’s church choir in Molde and sang a lot of choir music at an early age. The interest for classical singing grew in high school even though I was majoring in classical piano. I was a part of the high school theater group in 2014 and 2015.

I have played both the piano and the flute since 2007 and 2008. I was actively using my skills in these instruments during my attendance at Toneheim college by joining the marching band, the sinfonietta, the wind ensemble and majoring in piano. Also this was when I started singing seriously by having private lessons and attending forums for singers at Toneheim college.

In high school I had Tove Midtbø Moe as my vocal teacher. When I went to Toneheim college, I had lessons with Maria Berglund, also known as Stemmespesialisten, in Oslo with a bit of Timani guidance. In 2017 and 2018 I had lessons with Åshild Kyvik Bauge in Oslo while working as an instrumental and music theory substitute teacher at Molde high school and Molde music school and also working at an institution for elderly people.

In 2018 I enrolled at NTNU in Trondheim and worked with professor Elisabeth Meyer-Topsøe for two years. The same year that I applied for a transfer to the Norwegian Academy of Music, I also applied for a full year of exchange abroad. I got accepted at NMH and also at the Royal Conservatoire The Hague and Hochschule für Musik und Theater München. Ultimately I chose the latter and spent a year in Munich and learned German, being coached mainly by prof. KS Andreas Schmidt and other teachers like prof. Donald Sulzen, Nina Sipriina Uhari and Ian Bostridge.

The last years my positions in the Norwegian Soloists' Choir and Solistkoret UNG have taken me around Europe and let me meet with musicians, ensembles such as the Finnish Baroque Orchestra, Ensemble Allegria, Noxwode, Gjermund Larsen trio and conductors including Justin Doyle, Yuval Weinberg, Julia Selina Blank, Nils Schweckendiek, Florian Helgath and Christian Eggen. Since January 2024 I've been a regular member in the Soloists' Choir.

I was working with Ann-Helen Moen for my masters degree at NMH after finishing my bachelor's degree under her guidance in 2022 with top marks. I focused on art songs, more specifically German lieder for my masters project, and at the same time participated in the 12th version of the renowned song duo competition Concours international de chant-piano Nadia et Lili Boulanger with my partner Revaz Abramia in October 2023. We won the Prix de Lied and had a wonderful time in Paris meeting lots of great musicians and discovering great songs. This summer we attended the Francis Poulenc Academy in Tours because of meeting François Le Roux in Paris 2023. It was a great time and we will be attending the continuation of the course this coming February in Toronto in collaboration with the University of Toronto. We also had a solo recital at the Kirsten Flagstad Festival in Hamar this summer after my masters graduation where we premiered the piece «Je vil hematt» by Ragnar Söderlind. Because of this collaboration, we are currently planning the recording of this piece and other smaller pieces by Ragnar together with the composer himself and the norwegian record label Lawo. We were semi-finalists in both Wigmore Hall/Bollinger International Song Competition and Hugo Wolf Akademies Internationaler Wettbewerb für liedkunst Stuttgart this fall and will be going back to England next summer to attend the Britten Pears Young Artist Programme in Suffolk after being awarded this from the foundation Britten Pears Arts in the Wigmore Hall competition. For 2025 we are looking forward to the recording, going to Toronto, performing at the Festival Castel Artès in the fall and other possible gigs and competitions in Norway and Europe.
